Most hitches hang low and ruin the clean lines of your vehicle. This one doesn’t. The Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver has a totally hidden design that keeps the cross tube tucked behind the bumper. When you’re not using it, you can remove the 2" receiver without tools and cover the opening with the included hitch plug. It leaves your vehicle looking like it just came from the factory—no bulky metal parts or cutouts showing underneath.
There’s no hassle when adding or removing the rack receiver. It attaches or detaches in seconds and automatically latches in place when inserted into the sturdy stainless steel center block. Just press the built-in lock to secure it, and when you’re done, unlock it and pop it off for storage. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion, and the locking system keeps the connection secure for your bike racks or cargo carriers rated up to 600 lbs tongue weight.
You can use this receiver to carry your bike rack, ski rack, or cargo basket without affecting ground clearance or any foot-activated hatch sensors. The 2" opening works with standard hitch-mounted accessories, giving you more room for gear on road trips or weekend rides. It meets SAE J684 safety regulations and installs with a simple bolt-on setup that uses existing connection points—no drilling, welding, or frame modification required.

If you are brave enough to take off the bumper and some trim, it is a pretty straight forward install. Probably 2 hours.

i love this hitch and its functionality.its totaly invisible,except when you install adapters.i would highly recommend it.it wasinstalled on 2019 Volvo XC 90,did installation my self with provided instructions and it went smoothly.now need to try another one for Mini.thank you for great product
The product works well and is not visible when not in use. The installation went well, due to the instructions provided and supplemental YouTube videos. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who does not want to spend extra for the OEM Volvo solution but still wants an aesthetically pleasing hitch system. We use the system to carry a Yakima bike rack with a four bike capacity.
This is a fantastic hitch rack. Install was pretty straightforward and I did it myself in the garage in about a hour. There is a [online] video that walks you through every step. I bought some plastic pry tools on [online] for pulling the body panels off and used tin sheers to do all of the trimming. I have used the rack now for one year. Only have used it with a bike rack (1-up) and up to two mtn bikes. Works fantastic and is completely invisible when hitch mount is removed. Only negative is how expensive it is.. but you get what you pay for.
I was looking for an alternative and economical option to the expensive factory volvo hitch which tucks in below the rear bumper. This stealth hitch does that job perfectly. Since I got it last year, I have used it a handful of times to tow a four bicycle rack with no issues. When not towing, I find it easy to take it out and store it away. All for 3rd of the cost. Not fit for heavy towing, as per the product specifications but perfect for all those looking for light towing options.
The hitch fit perfectly on my 2022 Volvo XC90. Installation was straightforward, took about 90 minutes, and the video and instructions were very helpful (I have some experience working on cars). Make sure to have the proper tools, especially sockets/torque wrench, and have a second person to help. I'll be looking forward to hanging my bike rack and heading south for the winter!
Is very good quality and easy installation it took me 2 hours for the installation. Great product the stealth look was a good choice.
The Stealth Hitch is definitely a league above cheaper alternatives. I had tried to order an alternate "hidden hitch" and through various issues with a different vendor, could not get a complete kit to function correctly. The Stealth hitch from etrailer was a backup plan that turned into what should have been the first choice. The support from etrailer is great, although I did not have any issues.
Having seen the cheaper alternative in my living room in person (twice), I can confidently attest that the Stealth hitch is better in many ways -- the packaging is better, the fit and finish is better, the release mechanism is more robust and arguably a better design, the installation instructions were thorough, and the installation hardware is well thought out. The fact that they included replacement clips that are known to break when removing body panels means they care about the customer having a more pleasant experience with their product. Stealth hitch does not have to include $2 worth of plastic clips - but they did!
The great videos etrailer posted helped the installation go without any problems.
If you're reading this review, you may not have decided... just avoid the mistake I made, and get the Stealth hitch first.
Easy install. Slightly pricey, but was nice to have free shipping and the option to hide your hitch is worth it.
This hitch is awesome! The install was complex, but the instructions were simple and easy to follow. When deployed, the hitch works perfectly and when stowed, it is completely hidden from view.
Excellent hitch for our Volvo. Had our local service tech install it and just picked up our new electric bikes this afternoon! Now we have the option to remove the hitch from site, and make it "stealth", or just leave it so we can ride when we want. Thanks for all the help.
I installed a StealthHitch on my Volvo XC90 this weekend and I am very happy with its fit and function. The installation wasn’t too hard overall but it was definitely tedious. Make sure to have a second set of hands to help with the removal and reinstall of the rear bumper.

Excellent overall. Great packaging, instructions, and components. It fits perfectly on my 2025.5 Volvo xc90. I had to trimmed the bumper a little so I can reach the key. My advice is to watch the video on who to install.
Easy install, a lot cheeper vs going with OEM tow hitch especially if you’re not towing but only need to carry bikes etc..
It is stealthy for sure and that’s a big plus.
Great kit, all parts included, even extra body clips for the fender trim (didn't need them). Installation video was great and easy to follow. Some differences in my 2024 XC90: 4th bolt did not need need the locking nut, threaded inserts already present. Fascia trimming was minimal to access the lock b/c this model already had the cutouts for the Volvo hitch, see photo. Took my time, installation took a little over an hour. Solid build quality and completely invisible when installed.
Easier than the same unit I installed on a 2018 V60.
I am a little concerned about the length of the studs with the addition of the 1/4 inch plate of the hitch, but they torqued to specification just fine.
